SnapVid is a free web tool for saving videos and images you can already watch, from Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Threads, onto your own device. No account, no software to install, and no limit on how many times you use it.
Why we built it
Saving a clip you want to keep should not require installing a program of unclear origin, signing up for an account, or sitting through a countdown timer. That was the state of most download tools when we started, and much of it still is.
SnapVid began as a small internal utility for archiving our own posts before a platform changed its layout again and the originals became hard to find. It worked well enough that we cleaned it up and put it online. It has stayed free since, and it has stayed free of the things that made the alternatives unpleasant: no forced redirects, no fake download buttons, no software bundles.
What the site offers
- Facebook — public videos and Reels in HD or SD, private videos through a step-by-step page-source method, and a bulk mode for a whole list of links at once.
- Instagram — videos, Reels and photos at the quality the platform serves them.
- TikTok — videos with or without the watermark, plus audio-only MP3 extraction and a bulk mode.
- Threads — videos and images from public posts.
The interface is available in five languages: Vietnamese, English, Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi and Bengali.
How it works, and what we keep
You paste a link. Our server asks the platform for the public information attached to that link, reads the media addresses out of the response, and shows you the download options. The file itself then travels from the platform to your device.
We do not keep a copy of your video. We do not build a library of what people have downloaded, and we do not require an account, so there is no profile for a download to be attached to. Links submitted for bulk jobs are held only for as long as that job is running and are then discarded. Where a file has to be converted — extracting an MP3, for instance — the working file is deleted after the conversion finishes.
Copyright, and what this tool is for
SnapVid is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Facebook, Meta, Instagram, TikTok or Threads in any way. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
The tool only ever reaches content that is already publicly viewable, or that you yourself have access to. It does not break any protection and it cannot see anything you could not see in your own browser.
It exists for lawful personal use: keeping your own posts, saving a clip you have permission to reuse, archiving something for offline viewing. You are responsible for what you do with a file after you download it. Republishing someone else's work without their permission, or using it commercially, may infringe their copyright — that is on you, not on the tool. If you are the rights holder of material being distributed through this site and you want it stopped, write to us at the address below and we will act on it.
How the site is paid for
SnapVid is free and has no paid tier. Servers, bandwidth and the work of keeping the resolvers running as the platforms change their pages all cost money, and that cost is covered by advertising.
We work with Google AdSense and other third-party advertising vendors. These vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and to other sites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info.
Advertising is kept where you can see it. We do not disguise ads as download buttons, we do not open pop-unders, and the links you paste are never shared with advertisers.
